Our Social Story

24th November 2025

Ellen Street Dental Social Story

When you come see us at Ellen Street Dental, our building is a two story house. You might have parked out the back and walked around to the front, or you might have parked on the street.

When you come into our waiting room, a receptionist will ask your name and you can take a seat. You might have to wait for a few minutes or a bit longer sometimes. There is music playing and there are magazines and books to read. There are toys and games and a fish tank. There are also some chairs on our front verandah if you want to wait outside. There is a bathroom if you need it and a place to brush your teeth.

Your dentist will call your name when it is your turn and take you into their room.

You will sit in the big chair which is a bit like a lounge chair – it moves up and down and lays you back like you are lying down. Your dentist and their assistant will be wearing a mask and glasses and will have gloves on their hands. You will be given a pair of sunglasses to wear because there is a bright light shining on your mouth. When you look up, there is a television on the ceiling and you can watch TV.

Your dentist uses a little mirror and a probe to look in your mouth and check your gums and teeth. They might clean your teeth too. When the dentist cleans your teeth, there is water sprayed in your mouth, but the dental nurse will have a suction tube to suck up the excess water and this is a bit noisy. You might need to sit up and rinse your mouth and spit out – there is a little sink on the left side for this. The water they give you is mint flavoured.

When you are finished, the chair will sit you up and you can stand up. You go back to the waiting room to see the receptionists to book your next appointment and to pay for your visit today.

We can’t wait to see you.

Invisalign Go

21st November 2025

WHAT IS THE INVISALIGN GO SYSTEM?

Dr Charlotte Autore is treating patients with Invisalign Go. Its a virtually invisible clear-aligner tray system for mild to moderate crowding.  A series of custom-made removable aligners allows for gentle yet effective movement to straighten your teeth.  This technology gradually and predictably moves your teeth to your desired position. Treatment times can be as little as 3 to 6 months.

1. Photos, X-rays and scans are taken of your teeth to help create a treatment plan and to determine whether you are a suitable candidate.

2. Invisalign will then assess this information and provide you a customised 3D treatment plan just for you. You will be able to see the predicted position of your teeth after each aligner via a 3D video provided by Invisalign.

3. Customised aligners are manufactured

4. Initially you will be given 3 to 4 custom aligners that you wear every day and change them at home approximately every 1-2 weeks. You need to wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day. You can take them out to eat and to clean your teeth. Small pieces of tooth coloured filling material (called attachments) will need to be stuck onto some teeth to aid tooth movement and to help hold the aligner in place. These attachments only cover a couple of millimetres of the tooth surface and are removed at the end of treatment.

5. Every 6 to 8 weeks you will visit us to monitor your progress and receive your next series of aligners.

6. After your teeth are in their final position you will need to wear retainers or have a wire placed on the back of your teeth to stop them from moving back. You can choose to have composite bonding to enhance your smile.

3Shape Trios Scanner

10th October 2025

Steve is very excited about one of his new gadgets that he has added to his toolbox... the 3Shape Trios 3 wireless scanner. Click the picture below to see it in action.

Steve uses a 3Shape Trios scanner to create high quality digital impressions of your mouth. This means that Steve can use this scanner for most of his crowns, bridges, implants cases, splints and snoring devices. And the best part is that means we won’t need to worry about those unpleasant impressions.

Not only that, but the Trios scanner also means that we can get precise and detailed info at a snap and send it just as quickly to our labs. It’s also a great way for us to get the perfect colour match for your tooth.

Steve is pretty chuffed with this new scanner, so if you want to know more about what it can do or would like to see a scan of your own mouth, let him know.
